CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing

Marketing Knowledge offers CIM's Professional Diploma in Marketing qualification (formerly known as Advanced Certificate - Stage 2). All modules will run in September and February semesters each year. Each module is equivalent to 90 hours of study. The modules are:

Marketing Planning

This module focuses on the marketing planning process within a variety of contexts.

CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing

From September 2004 we will be offering all modules for the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (formerly known as Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing). All modules will run in September and February semesters each year.

Analysis and Evaluation

This subject covers the concepts, techniques and models involved in developing a detailed understanding of the market, customers and competitive environment externally and internally the organisation, its capabilities and assets, the opportunities available to it and its current performance.

Strategic Marketing Decisions

This subject covers the concepts, techniques and models involved in formulating a customer-focused competitive business or corporate strategy and developing a specific and differentiated competitive position. It includes investment decisions affecting marketing assets.

Managing Marketing Performance

This subject covers the implementation stage of the strategy. This encompasses managing marketing teams, managing change, implementing strategy through marketing activities and working with other departments, and using measurement as the basis for improvement.

This subject provides an opportunity to explore strategic marketing in a practical setting. It also incorporates the latest trends and innovations in marketing.

Important Information about the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing

  • The syllabus no longer includes discrete modules on international marketing and integrated marketing communications. The knowledge and skill requirements for each module define the elements of these subjects to be covered.
  • The new Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, is assessed by examination only.
  • Each examination, except for Strategic Marketing in Practice, consists of a mini-case study, which equates to 50% of the marks, with a further part of the examination paper focusing on questions from other parts of the syllabus.
  • Strategic Marketing in Practice is a significant case study examination, whereby CIM release the case study four weeks prior to the examination, for preliminary analysis to be undertaken and used within the examination itself.
